Michele Martin interviewed Anupy Singla about her new cookbook Vegan Indian Cooking: 140 Simple and Healthy Vegan Recipes. Thy addressed the typical questions- whether or not you need fake meat substitutes, how to get enough protein, and they talked about some of the recipes included.
While I definitely feel the protein question is SO overdone, I am glad this story is helping to get the word out.
Here is a link to the story (it was a quick interview) and here is a link to the cookbook.
Anyone buying this book? Who loves Indian food? (Me!) Do you think the vegan way of life is becoming more mainstream?
Awesome! I think it's probably easier to eat vegan at an Indian restaurant so it makes it a little easier.
ReplyDeleteI read that too much protein in women can reduce serotonin levels. In both men and women, excess protein can break down into sugar and dump right into your bloodstream. YAY!
So I agree with you that protein shouldn't be an issue.
I'm in the department of the redundancy department!
DeleteOf course something easier makes something easier. Oy.
What I mean to say is that it's comforting to know that when your friends want to go out for Indian food, there will be vegan options on the menu. Also it'd be fun to host an Indian dinner that happens to be vegan but no one will notice because it's so exotic.
LOL you crack me up. Also, interesting about the excess protein! Had not heard that particular tidbit.
